SENTINEL consortium meeting held in Braga

The SENTINEL Consortium Meeting has been running since the beginning of April 2020 and we finally had the opportunity to meet in person between the 19th and 20th of July. The meeting was held in Braga - Portugal, the home city of the project Coordinator - Stemmatters. All SENTINEL partners: INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, The University of Texas at Austin, ICVS - Life and Health Sciences Research Institute, and 2CA-Braga (Clinical Academic Center - Braga) were able to meet and discuss the results, next steps of the project, and future challenges.

The two working days were extremely fruitful from both the research and team-building perspectives. The days included presentations from work package leaders, discussions on research implementation, as well as planning for future work and meetings. In addition to going through the official topics set in the meeting agenda, the days were perfect for going through greetings from each team, discussing the management of the project, as well as more unofficial conversations that we had been missing for so long.

Being able to focus on the project without interruptions for two days with the SENTINEL Consortium members was an extremely valuable experience that gave us the possibility to get to know each other on a more personal level and strengthen our project plans to make our research even better.

Ana Oliveira, Senior Scientist and Manager of this project at Stemmatters, adds: “This was a great opportunity to discuss the scientific and technological progress the SENTINEL project achieved so far, as well as to evaluate the potential follow-up development in fields of implantable biosensors. Developing such an exciting technology can only be addressed by an interdisciplinary team like the SENTINEL Consortium.”
